My weekend was filled with John Cale, who gave the keynote speech and played a gig as part of the Sydney Festival.
Imagine giving a slideshow presentation of your life that runs from La Monte Young to the Velvets to Patti to The Stooges to the Happy Mondays to Eno… pretty radical.
One thing he said really stuck with me…

Christine and I are geeks and were both in need of some new glasses… we wanted to look professional around the office, don’t you know. She’s long sighted, I’m short sighted - talk about the blind leading the blind! We both opted for Fantastic Man worthy frames in varying shades of tortoiseshell. We’re just waiting for our MENSA accreditation to come through now…
