Happy Valentine’s Day…
We Heart You
Oh Julian. You’re still my favourite Stroke.
Behind the scenes of Julian’s ‘11th Dimension’ music video, from his debut solo album ‘Phrazes For The Young’.
This is Susan T. Miller and ‘Little Mom’ - the greatest Astrological mother-daughter duo in the world! We are so happy our friend (and Susan’s daughter) Chrissie Miller of Sophomore introduced us.
We love Susan, her passion for her work, her belief in following your own path and her spot-on astrology forecasts. If you have not picked up the current issue of RUSSH, you’ve got to check out Susan’s 12-page in-depth forecast by star sign for the year ahead.
And click onto astrologyzone.net right now for your February forecast. Her motto? “Never make a decision out of fear, because it will be the wrong decision. Life is made to live courageously.”
Oh and Susan’s other daughter Diana puts together this GEM of a music blog - www.ilistentoeverything.com.
The Millers - talk about a dynasty of kick-ass women!
“Be careful, Donald”
Nice to see Olivier Zahm looking out for the safety of his subjects.
Watching this video gives me vertigo.
If you don’t know this band already… get to know them!
They are DAPPLED CITIES and they are easily one of the best bands coming out from down under right now.
They will make you laugh, they will make you dance and they even manage to turn a Joy Division cover into a camp-inflected theatrical performance - YES that’s a good thing!
Here they are rocking out at the Laneway Festival in matching gold lamé unitards like it’s no big deal… American Apparel should give them a call.
Their new album Zounds is out now. www.dappledcities.com
“I had a dream the other night that a guy was sentenced to death for attempting to commit suicide. And in my dream the guy was me and I was standing at the back of the court room screaming ‘nooooooooooo… noooooooooo’. - Daniel Johnston. Laneway Festival. Sydney. January 31st 2010.

DEAD LOVERS TWISTED HEART
An exhibition of drawings by Daniel Johnston
Pretty Rad… And he even busted out a few tunes at the opening accompanied by British music journalism legend Everett True!
If you’re in Sydney go take a look…. it’s on until Feb 13th
My weekend was filled with John Cale, who gave the keynote speech and played a gig as part of the Sydney Festival.
Imagine giving a slideshow presentation of your life that runs from La Monte Young to the Velvets to Patti to The Stooges to the Happy Mondays to Eno… pretty radical.
One thing he said really stuck with me…
“Art has a way of making life irrelevant. It has all the seductive powers of a heavy drug.”
David Sedaris - taking the bizarre conundrums of daily life and turning them into comedic gold.
He’s one of my favourites, and one of the only authors that upon finishing one of his books makes me want to write a million times better… my only gripe with him is that he makes me look like a complete nutcase when I’m laughing out loud reading in public.
